Starlooks Starbox- December!

Standard

As promised, December’s box was huge! I finally got my 15-pan eyeshadow palette, valued at $99! Remember that Starlooks is only $15, plus $1.98 shipping- this was a total steal!

My box arrived in it’s ever changing packaging, as per usual. This month was red and gold to match the Holiday spirit for December.

Inside, we received our card that explains everything inside along with little confetti- an adorable touch.  I was lucky to have opened my box outside because the confetti did go everywhere, but it was fun.

I’ll go ahead and get to the good stuff 🙂 Here is my palette. There are 5 colors: Red, Purple, Blue Green & Orange and there are 3 shades of each. I loved the idea of playing on the color wheel. I’ve been a fan of Starlooks’ eyeshadows and pigments since the first time I got the chance to try them and this just adds to my collection. The options are endless! Each shadow is smooth, applies wonderfully and the color payoff is superb. Of the 15 shadows, only two are matte- the bright red and the deep plum. The rest are beautiful shimmers that add pop and make the eye look more awake.

I decided I would go ahead and swatch them all because I hadn’t seen to many swatches online just yet 🙂

Reds.

Purples.

Blues.

Greens.

Oranges/Yellows.

The value is insane with every Starlooks Starbox I’ve tried but December’s box took the cake. I’m so excited to see what they have in store for next year! If you haven’t signed up yet, be sure and check them out & don’t forget that a subscription box makes a GREAT gift for the beauty junkie on your list!

If you’re kicking yourself for having missed this box, you can pick it up HERE for only $10 more!

Green Grab Bag- November

Standard

There are so many monthly subscriptions out there, but Green Grab Bag is in a class of it’s own providing “green”, natural and ecco friendly beauty products every month. For $15 a month (shipping included) you get a Grab Bag with at least 6 samples of natural beauty products. You can sample everything from skin care and cosmetics to bath and even hair items, but the best part, you never know what you’re going to get 🙂

Every month, Green Grab Bag comes packages in a beautiful bag, all made of and decorated with earth friendly materials and inks. Each item is listed on the white card attached to the bag. This month we received 8 products total.

Everything is not only listed on this card, but there is also a brief description on the products and also a discount on almost ALL of the companies included. So, if you find something you love, you can get on average 25% off, which is a really great deal! They aren’t sampling very expensive brands, so they were already affordable.

First up on the list in a 3-some by Purity Botanicals. I got a sample of their Deep Pore cleaner for Normal to Oily Skin (yay, said the oily girl!), Liquid Gold and their Lip Whip. I haven’t figured out what the Liquid Gold is for yet, but I plan to read up more on their website. I cannot wait to try the Deep Pore Cleaner, it smells nice and light with a hint of “earthy”.

This sample of Lip Whip is somewhat small, but when you consider what it is and how little it takes, you’ll realize this will last for a while. The color is beautiful and the texture is awesome. I’m a sucker for lip products and this is one I’ll certainly be using and maybe repurchasing.

Next was a full size ZuZu Luxe (Gabirel Cosmetics) eyeliner in Obsidian. A matte black with cool blue undertones. This eyeliner retails for almost as much as the monthly bag, making it a serious steal! A girl really can’t have too many eyeliners and if she does, she can always gift it 😛

In the body care department we received a sample of Terra Mia Organics Goat Milk Therapy lotion. Mine leaked quite a bit and needed a touch of cleaning, but there was still a ton inside. I’ve tried several different Goat Milk Soaps but never a goat milk lotion so I’m interested to try this one out!

We also got a Peppermint Body Milk by Isvara. This body wash smells amazing.
I look forward to trying this one too 🙂

Because one of the samples was not received in time to be put into the Green Grab Bag this month, but was printed on the card, we received this Bambola Acai Anti-oxidant Cleanser in it’s place. I was glad to see a replacement, but I don’t have any information on this sample and I’m not sure if it’s a face wash (pretty sure) or a body wash. The bottles contents also weren’t mixed very well and there was a glob of dark orange at the bottom. Not sure that I’ll use this one…

Last was a sample from Jefferey James, The Eye Gel. I’m a big fan of eye care products so I’m excited to try this and it’s got enough for several uses, but I’m NOT a fan of foil, one time use packets. I’d have to store this in a baggie or the like to keep it fresh, not my idea of a good time.

Overall, I thought this month’s Green Grab Bag had a great mix and several items I’m pumped about diving into! This time of year, we’re all searching for the perfect gift so if you’ve got that natural beauty on your list, give a gift that keeps on giving and get her a subscription to Green Grab Bag 🙂

Ipsy Glam Bag November

Standard

I probably don’t have to tell you all again how much I enjoy Ipsy (formally MyGlam). For only $10 a month, you get a bag with 5 beauty products inside. While they have had their bad months, that is 100% a thing of the past. In recent months, Ispy has done what I never thought would happen with any monthly subscription service, they TRULY listened to their subscribers. In a few short months Ipsy has gone from sending samples we weren’t too keen on to almost exclusively sending makeup samples and amazing brands that we all know and love. I anticipate Ispy every month and this month was certainly worth my $10!

This month’s theme was a “Party Perfect Look”. The bag we got this month was a standard brown zipper pouch made of an easily “wipeable” material. Inside were theses 5 awesome cosmetic items 🙂

The first thing on the list was this Nailtini Nail Lacquer in Millionaire. I’m not a huge fan of bar glitter but this is a beautiful multicolored glitter polish. Millionaire comes from their Speakeasy collection and retails for $13. This right here covers the cost of my Ipsy Glam Bag!

We also got an eyeshadow from The Balm. This is from their Meet Matt(e) palette. The color is called Matt Batali and as you would guess, it is 100% matte. It’s a deep brown, perfect as an eyeliner or crease color. The palette features 9 shades in this size making this a sample value of $3.83

Next we received a Moxie lip gloss by Bare Minerals. They describer this “Dare Devil” color as a sparkling Blackberry. It’s a great color for the Fall and for a party! This size is a VERY generous half size worth $9! I’m a very big fan of Buxom glosses that are also by BareMinerals and the Moxie line has the same tingle to it, bu more of a cooling sensation. It leaves my lips in better condition than before I applied it, that is a BIG win in my book!

The second full size item from this bag is a Starlet Cosmetics eyeliner pencil. I received black. Can a girl have too many black eyeliners? I’ll leave that question’s answer up to you, but I do know that this is an amazing, smudge proof addition to my eyeliner collection. It’s a dark black and it goes on smooth then stays put after a short “dry” time. This liner retails for $11. Making it a great value also if I should receive to repurchase!

Last, I received Chella’s Eyebrow Defining Gel. A lot of people were bummed to get this because you could have also gotten Benefit’s They’re Real mascara. PERSONALLY, that mascara burned my eyes and caused my lashes to break off! Something in it’s formula did just not agree with me, though I’m the first to say the “look” it creates is outstanding! So, that said, I was happy to get this brow gel. I’ve been VERY into doing my brows lately. This brow gel is almost full size and is worth $11.37

Overall, the value was $48.20. WAY more than the $10 I paid and all of these products will come in handy 🙂

Julep Maven “Bombshell” November

Standard

Does this post seem late in the month for you guys? That’s because it is. Not only did my box ship pretty late, but my add ons JUST shipped two days ago. They could give me no reason as to why they had not shipped and they only shipped AFTER I messaged them saying “Hey, what’s going on?” So…I’m a little bummed with the shipping speed this month and I wish I had my add-ons to share with you guys too, but life goes on!

I got my standard black box this month. The website switch and transition to “Jules” has not been easy for Julep and they are still making more adjustments along the way but I can say they I got the same quality products and I’m VERY happy with the selection this month. In addition to my box, I also chose to get the body scrub set. It won’t be here for a few more days, but I heard it works wonders with the body frosting we got in our boxes.

This Pink Grapefruit Body Frosting smells SO amazing. They even added in Aloe Vera and Vitamin E to add extra moisturizing and to help lock it in. With the weather changing in most parts of the country- I think this was a great addition to Julep this month.

As an added bonus this month, we got these one-step polish remover pads. I adore these and they are probably my favorite polish remover pads I’ve ever tried. The pad is very thick and can tackle all 10 fingers, even with a dark or stubborn color. I would love to be able to get more of these so I hope they become available in the shop soon!

And as always, I got two nail colors. I have to say that I WAS really excited for this blue (Donna) but when my box arrived, I was blown away by the purple (Trina)

I’m not usually a huge fan of shimmer polishes but this one is just so pretty!

Overall, I wish I had gotten my Julep two weeks ago like all my friends, but stuff happens and I still really enjoy Julep. If you’re interested in trying them out, you can get your first box for only ONE PENNY. Just click on the “I’m a Bombshell” icon to the right 🙂

Sample Society November

Standard

I was really happy to have my Sample Society show up earlier in the month rather than later! There was a rumor mill churning over delay because of the Hurricane, but they pulled through! I’m a tiny bit sad to report that this is the second month in a row without a full sized cosmetic item, BUT I’ll live 🙂

This month’s box was put together by Allure. I have to say that I’m happy with this month and there was one product I’ve been DYING to get my paws on- I didn’t notice anything all that special about this being an “Allure” box. That’s not to say I don’t adore Allure, but they are suppose to be “the beauty expert”. I have to say I tend to head to Beauty Bar.com for my beauty expert support, but oh well 😉

So, going in order of the card, the first thing I pulled out was this Shea Butter hand cream from L’Occitane. I have to admit I was hoping for a bigger sample based on what I got in my CEW box earlier in the year but like most hand creams you only need a little so this is plenty from a hand cream sample. I’m torn between this brand and my Deep Steep as a favorite. This .3oz sample is worth $1.62

Next was a product I have actually already tried in a previous sample box. It’s by Alterna and it’s their Kendi Oil Dry Oil Mist. As you can see from the lid this product ( and one other) leaked quite a bit. There were some pretty oily products this month and none of them stayed in their containers all that well. I didn’t loose a TON of products, but I did have to clean them all up. I like this product well enough, but I’m not a dry hair kinda girl, so I will be passing this one on 🙂 This is one of the largest sample in the box at 1oz- which is huge for a hair product sample. This sample is worth $5.71

We got one cosmetic item this month and I was thrilled to see it was a lipstick.

Not so thrilling is the teeny, tiny size. Anyone ever get those mini lipsticks from Avon? Yeah, it’s that size. We got Diego dalla palma Classic Lipstick in Pink Satin. This lipstick is great, love the color and I’ll be able to apply it several times. I’m not sure what the sample value on this one is, so I’ll guess about $4. The full size of this retails for $34

As always with Sample Society, we received a perfume sample. This is the new perfume, Volutes from Dypteque. I have to say I am a fan of this sweet, lingering scent. This sample is worth $2.18 I DO wish we were getting the bigger perfume samples (like the mini bottles we got for a few months). I prefer those to these, BUT I am glad that this is a spray top.

Last was the product I’ve been really waiting to try! This is Precleanse from Dermalogica. This is an oil to use before washing your face. I’m VERY interested to try this one! Plus, it’s a bit of a two-for because they also sent a sample packet of their Special Cleansing Gel. This has a sample value of $6.86

Overall, I’m pretty “okay” with my box this month. I wish the lipstick and perfume were bigger, but I liked them quite a bit so that probably added to that feeling 😉 My sample value was only $20.37. I started paying tax on my box this month recently so I pay $16 and some change so this was really NOT a huge gain on my end this month. I’d say out of all my boxes this month, I was most disappointed with this one and I’m not sure I’ll stay subscribed considering it’s HUGE value drop in value this month. It’s my most expensive box and so far, the lowest value :/ I’ll have to sleep on this one!

Beauty Army November

Standard

If you’ve been following The Rosy Snail for a while, you’ve already heard about my on-again, off-again relationship with Beauty Army. I’m happy to report that currently we are ON and I’m loving what I’ve been getting for the $12 I’m spending each month. Beauty Army is one of the only monthly subscription that allows you to choose your own samples (SIX total) from a selection of 9 that are determined by an easy quiz you take. Beauty Army & I broke up earlier this year because I was having issues (as were other subscribers) with having to take the quiz MANY times to get items I actually liked. Beauty Army has changed it’s ways and it’s strengthened our relationship. No, I don’t even have to retake the quiz at all! It’s like Beauty Army really listened and already knows what I’m looking for every month 🙂 I think we found a happy medium 😉

This month my box was PINK! It’s usually black with pink camo on the inside. They’ve recently released a few different colored boxes, so this was a fun surprise. I’ll be really excited to get a white box in the upcoming months! From what I can tell, the color is totally random. As you can see, my box is a bit TOO full! I couldn’t get the lid to lay flat. Oh darn 😉

So, here are all my goodies! With Beauty Army, I always feel like I get a good mix. Because I get to choose, I never choose something I don’t like or don’t think I’ll use and sometimes, I choose things for friends (like I did this month). I like having the control, especially when it comes to color cosmetic items or heavily scented products.

I skipped October’s Beauty Army. Mostly because of my budget (it was my 3-year-olds Birthday) but also because I didn’t see anything I couldn’t live without. One of the items I was REALLY gunning for was this Lash EM growth product! I REALLY wanted this one! This is the Measurable Difference Lash Gel and retails for $69.99. This is a full sized product and certainly made my whole box worth it. Even if I didn’t LOVE everything else.

Next was this Every Beauty Pedicure Pad. This pedicure pad is really great because it’s not only tough to get the job done, but it is also “squishy”. So, you can squeeze and move it to fit the shape of your food while smoothing away any rough patches. I haven’t tried this yet, but I can’t wait! This retails for $4.99

Next was an old favorite, but in a new and exciting Fall scent! Of all the whipped Shea butters (or body butters) I’ve sampled this year, Shea Terra is hands down the winner for this category. BUT I actually picked this out for a fellow blogger who happens to LOVE this stuff and Shea Terra products. This has a sample value of $2

Next is YouDaBalm Coconut lip balm. My husband and I agreed this was a touch oily, BUT he gave it a good rating. He liked the texture better than Burt’s Bee’s which is his “normal” go to, though lately he’s bee using one from Whispering Willow. This retails for $2.99

I got another lip item as well. This is by Skinn and it’s their Twin Set in Coral Poppy. I’m not sure if you can tell from this picture, but my lipstick end actually came smashed :/ That was pretty disappointing and I’ll be emailing Beauty Army to let them know about it. I’m not sure what they’ll do about it, but it’s worth a mention. I did try both the lip gloss and lipstick. I liked both formulas and they especially work well together (obviously). The lip gloss adds some slight glitter to the look. This is full size and retails for $18.50

Last, I chose this eyeshadow (pigment) sample from Whip Hand. This is a limited edition color in Locked & Loaded. This bottle is so tiny, but I have to remember that the pigment into only takes a TINY amount to get the job done! Plus, look at this cute little glass bottle! This sample is worth $2.80

Overall, I loved my selection this month. The overall sample value was $101.27. Even without the Lash EM product (which was a $69.99 value) my samples were still worth $31.28. Of my 6 items, I got 4 that were full size and the two that I get that were sample size were still multi-use samples and very useful. I’ll be sticking with Beauty Army for a while and I can’t wait to see next month’s options!

Get into the Spirit of Giving with Zents!

Standard

I am SO exciting to be getting into the Holiday Spirit this year. I love to shop, but I have to admit that the Holidays are my favorite reason to shop! The look on people’s face when they receive a special gift that you picked out for them. Among the places I plan to shop gifts at this season is Zents.

I’ve been a huge fan of Zents since I tried my first sample several months ago. Zents offers a full line of deliciously smelling perfumes and body products all created with the most luxurious ingredients to make you feel truly pampered from head to toe. I love to wear perfume but Zents takes that to a while new level capturing each scent from their line in shampoos, body washes, lotions and more.

It’s even easier to gift your loved ones favorites Zents scent with Zents’ Gift Sets. I chose this set in Ore. Of all Zents scents, Ore is described as the “sexy” one. with notes of bergamot, orris, violet, jasmine, and clove. This is a true musky scent but with a light, slightly floral tone that is truly one that will have you smelling great all day. These gift sets come beautifully wrapped with a velvet ribbon and labeled with the scent. Each of these boxes is beautifully presented and is already ready for gifting.

Inside are two full sized Zents products. A 6oz Shea Butter Hand & Body Cream and a 8.5oz Shea Butter Liquid Lash (shower and hand wash). Each of these smells of the wonderful Ore fragrance. I have been using these for several days now and loving each shower/bath. This body wash is moisturizing with the added bonus of shea butter and with just one pump, the scent fills the air. This lotion is by far one of the best lotions I have ever had the chance to use. No only because of the smell, but it absorbs into your skin to a smooth, never greasy finish and moisturizes all day. With this Gift Set, you can gift your friends and family truly beautiful, moisturized skin!

Zents was kind enough to help up launch our Holiday Gift Guide and get into to Spirit of Giving by offering a giveaway with not 1, not 2 but 10 winners!! Each winner with win a 1oz of  body wash in Sun and Lotion in Ore. With Zents there are SO many possibilities so this is your chance to try a few scents and find your Zents Scent 😉

Starlooks’ Starbox October!

Standard

I’m SO happy for finally have my Starlooks box! I got mine a little later than some of my friends locally because of the weekend and I had all last weekend to pout about it, but I’m SO happy now! 🙂

This months box was black and embellished with my favorite color- Purple! If you don’t already know about Starlooks’ Starbox yet, it is $15 a month and for that price, you get 3-4 FULL sized products sent to you from their cosmetics line. BUT Starlooks cosmetics is not just any old makeup line! Their products are comparable to MAC in quality and the boxes they create to send out every month (inspired from a look featured in their Look Book) is comparable to NONE. You can expect amazing colors that will work together to create an amazing, on trend, high fashion look and pieces you’ll LOVE having in your collection! Through Starlooks I’ve discovered SO many favorites, it’s UNREAL!

Right on top, SPOILER ALERT! Now, I already posted about how December’s box is one you will NOT want to miss, but now you know why!! The feature product in that box will be Starlooks’ Fifteen Shade Pro Eye Shadow Palette!! I’m SO, SO excited about this box. Can you believe they are giving out $99 palettes for $15!! And it goes without saying that Starlooks shadows are outstanding. I’m wearing one right now! Also, don’t forget that if you subscribe before the end of this month (October) you can let them know The Rosy Snail referred you and get a FREE bonus item! Plus, that way, you’ll be guaranteed to get the December box! With this information just leaked about the December box, I’d be worried they might just sell out!

Back to this month’s box 😉 Looks like we got three full sized products. Take Makeup + Full Size – Skin Care – JUNK + Starlooks quality and you get?! One VERY happy women. The theme this month is Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil, See no Evil and there is certainly a little bit of a “Fall Festival” undertone with some of the names and the look book 🙂

The first thing I got was a Eyeliner Pencil in “Gold Dust”. This is a beautiful gold. I like that this gold is shimmery but it is free of glitter. That makes it suitable for my waterline. This pencil glides on super smooth and is very rich and pigmented.

Just one pass and this color is not going anywhere. Since I have blue eyes, I’m especially excited about a gold pencil. This pencil retails for $8

Next was a Eye Shadow Pigment in Post. Did I mention before that I love purple? This pigment is so finely ground. I always thought Starlooks pressed shadows were smooth, but then I tried this and it’s like BUTTER. The color lasts all day long and I love the subtle blue undertones this pigment shows in the sun- possibly my favorite eye color I own now. This one retails for $12!

Lastly was a Starlooks Lipstick in “Masquerade”. Pretty fitting for Halloween, right?

Masquerade is a perfect mix between a burnt orange and a classic red- but with shimmer 🙂

Swatched, this lip color is moisturizing and long lasting. I love the richness of this color! This swatch is only two passes! It’s easy to create crisp lines around your lips with this lipstick but it is not going to dry out your lips. I can’t wait to put together a full look to feature this color! This lipstick retails for $11

We got a lifestyle this month,, these are Eye Rocks eye tattoos. These are pretty neat and I admit I will probably try these! I think this is a great product to have for all the Halloween parties coming up.

And as always, I got my crystal in my box as well 🙂 I’ve got a great collection of these so far and I think I will do what they suggest and make a cup of these into a brush holder.

My box this month had a value of $31- which is pretty awesome! More than that, I could NEVER go to Ulta or Sephora and spend $15 and get three full size anything, not even of their store branded items. Be sure and check out Starlooks and if you’re eying this box, you can order it after December 1st- as well as any past boxes!

“What’s In My Bag” Tag!

Standard

I’m really excited to be doing this because, well it’s fun! At the end, I’ve selected a handful of awesome bloggers who I’m tagging and hopefully they will be showing you what they carry around in their purses as well! I’m a little concerned that everyone MIGHT try to stage an intervention! I realized two things while taking photos for this blog post. 1. My bag really can hold me WHOLE life and 2. I need to prioritize my purse items, seriously!

I did not add nor take away anything from my bag, just picked it up and photographed what was inside. (I did have to put my makeup bag and wallet back inside because I throw them in as I’m about to leave)

I am still carrying my amazing Mary Satchel from http://www.BagBlaze.com so, I’ll start with the back pocket/zipper!

First thing I pulled out what a voucher for a free item from B&BW. I got this because I picked up a few goodies the other day and this will be good at the end of this month. I wanted to mention it because I know we all love freebies!

I also have this mint container from The Salvation Army where my Mother-in-law is a board member (or at least that’s what I think her “official” title is) and we recently went to a lovely dinner they had.

Two Milani Lip Flash pencils I grabbed for $2 each in the clearance section of my local HEB. SCORE!

& an insane collection of coupons, receipts, notes, HEB Buddy bucks and some cash…Yeah…LOL This is as  close to “trash” as my contents of my bag got, I was pretty surprised with that!

Now for the larger zipper pocket!

Because I’m a mom of two in diapers (Parker is potty training but wears pull-ups in public as of now) I HAVE to carry wipies. It’s a no brainer. I usually have a soft pack in my bag, but I’ve had this one for the last week or so.

I ALWAYS end up with a car or two (or four!) in my purse. Sometimes I put them there, sometimes my little guys do, but it never fails that I’m looking for something and I pull out a die cast car- today it’s Mrs. Holly Shiftwell 🙂

On to MOMMY stuff! First thing is my Billie Lashes from Bullseye Lashes. I haven’t used this specific pair yet because I’m waiting for something glam to come up BUT I’ve been carrying them around as a reminder of how amazingly beautiful they are (and to inspire me).

My favorite Deep Steep hand cream in the whole entire world.

New B&BW Fall Scents! This is Honey Autumn Apple. If you like green/candied apple flavors and scents, you will LOVE these. I didn’t like the other Fall scents as much but they were still nice. These minis were 3 for 10 so I couldn’t say no!

My Betsey Johnson sun glasses. These just hang around loose because they are old and beat to all get out, but I love them so much I can’t part with them. (no matter how many other, not beat up pairs I own)

An adorable pack of Kleenex- because you never know when you’re going to WISH you had one of these!

My Lola by Mark Jacobs solid perfume ring. I think I carry this around out of guilt! Because it’s SO beautiful but I never (and I mean NEVER) wear the ring OR the perfume. I like both but I’m just never dressed up enough :/

My red leather Fossil ID wallet. This baby is OLD, but I love it and you can’t tell. The other wise has a plastic part with my Driver’s License in it.

My Konvine leopard print ballet flats. These are perfect for when your feet get tired from walking in heels. I’ll be doing a full review on these VERY soon, but just know that I love these and they now live in my hand bag!

My favorite glasses ever that I got from Firmoo ❤

Then I have two makeup bags at the bottom! One is my MyGlam from September and the other is a BIG Betsey Johnson cosmetic bag.

In my MyGlam bag is the most RANDOM assortment of things. Basically, if I find it floating around in my bag, I throw it in here. I’ve got some Jane lipgloss, Karen Murrell Lipstick, an Uglee Pen, my Travelo, Nailtiques Formula 2, Sweaty Bands, Twist bands, Julep Reveal…random party favors,…change. It’s just SO random!

Inside the inside zipper of my bag, there was also this randomness, a necklace I got from Claire’s for $1 (and I love), a nail file, my favorite pen ever by Sharpie! Cuticle oil from Entity Beauty, hand sanitizer and gum!

AND here is the inside of my Betsey Johnson Makeup Bag…the amount of lip products here is unreal…who needs this many in their purse? Not to mention the stragglers I found in other places! I can’t even begin to list all this out, but ta-da!

I’ve been wearing pink lips everyday in October ❤ These are my current favorites.

So, I want to see what you’re totting around ladies!
Please check out the AMAZING bloggers below and see if they’ll need an intervention too 😉
