Tatcha Water Collection

I had the honor of reviewing Tacha’s ritual collection to suit my combination/oily skin, but as the air here in Texas gets cooler (I can’t quite say cold yet, probably not for another month or so) my skin starts to get a little dry and without all the sunshine, it gets dull too. Tatcha’s Water Collection is specially made to hydrate and pamper your skin for a amazing, lightweight glow.

I received both the Luminous Dewy Skin Mist and the Luminous Deep Hydration Lifting Mask.
I used the mask recently and find myself wishing I had more!Β  Which I’m prone to oily or normal skin, I have been needing to exfoliate more and more lately with dry areas around my eyes, forehead and chin- this amazing mask took care of those spots without the harshness of exfoliating. There was a slight tightening of the skin on my face while using this, probably what they mean by “lifting” but it felt great!

The next thing I opened (and fell in love with) was the Luminous Dewy Skin Mist. Not only is this bottle amazingly beautiful, but it does wonders for any dry patches on my skin- without making me feel oily. This is essentially a liquid moisturizer, but in this mist form, you can use it to freshen up any time & I’ve found it doesn’t even disturb my makeup. Tatch’s Luminous Dewy Skin Mist makes a wonderful mid day pick-me-up for you skin and the smell is both uplifting and calming with a slight floral/earthy scent that is light and lingers on the skin.

Madelaine Chocolate- Halloween Candy Like No Other!

Around here, Halloween is kind of a big deal. Probably because this Mama loves to get dressed up and get candy! Okay, not anymore, now, I let the kids do it for me πŸ˜‰ But when I look at shelves at local places, I’m distracted by the same ol’ candy I’ve been seeing for years. That was until I discovered Madelaine Chocolate.

Here is the first thing I picked out, the “Haunted Hunt” this reminds me of count-down calendars for Christmas, but with a ghoulish twist! There are 16 different “doors” to open to reveal candies and cute, themed rhymes. There are perfect for kids and “rationing” out treats and with the rhymes, it can also be a learning experience getting your child to sound out the fun words. I loved the variety inside (both caramel and solid chocolate) and I can’t wait for my boys to get to play with theme (and to use them as a bribe…hehe)

Here was a caramel Frankinstein I found πŸ˜‰

Next was probably my favorite item, the Gooey Ghouls Pail. How adorable is this?! If someone gave me this, I would probably jump for joy. It’s fulled with caramel ghouls which are also my favorite. The caramel at Madelaine is SO creamy, I find myself lacking words for how incredibly delicious it is. I think it might very well be the best caramel I’ve ever tasted!

Inside the pail is a very generous bag of Ghouls. Each one has a special foil wrapper that makes it look like a monster or scary creature!

& I couldn’t resist taking a photo of the creamy center! (Please excuse my bare nails) SO yummy!

Lastly, were these Caramel Filled Apples. These make me think of Snow White and the poison apple all the way. I guess I’m a little twisted because I’d get a kick out of seeing someone dressed up handing these out πŸ™‚ These featured the same yummy caramel but had more melt in your mouth chocolate than the ghouls!

Check them out for your candy needs! I can’t wait to share more from this company with you all. I also wanted to make mention that even in this Texas heat- my order arrived PERFECT. It wasn’t too hot (and melting) nor too cold (and sweating or frozen) it was just right.

Beauty Army September

Alright, I’ve got another month of Beauty Army to share! If you don’t already know what Beauty Army is, it’s a monthly service that is $12 a month and you get to pick 6 samples. It’s different than other services in that way and you also know how big each sample is when you choose- which is my favorite part of this one!

So, it came in this standard black box that it always does πŸ™‚ these are super re-useable. The possibilities are endless.

All my samples are neatly wrapped in pink tissue paper with a card on top. Because you choose your own samples, there is no product information, but you can get that on their website πŸ™‚

The first thing I pulled out was by Skyn Iceland and it is their Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels. I got one pair. I tried these and honestly, felt nothing and saw no results. I’m wondering if this is something you would have to use more than once. This sample is worth $3.75

Next was Suntegrity 5-in-1, this is basically a BB Cream & I can’t wait to try it. This .25oz sample is worth $6.62- this stuff is not cheap!

I also chose this 5gram jar of Lipsi’s Aphrodite Powder. This powder is designed to absorb excess oil on the skin & I have to say I really like this powder! I think I’ll be purchasing more of this here soon. I just put this on top of my liquid foundation (before a setting powder or spray) and it really helps keep my oily-ness at bay. (which is saying a lot for me!) This sample is worth $5.

I saw Nailtiques and I couldn’t resist!! I absolutely LOVE their Formula 2 nail protein and now I have this adorable mini to keep in my purse. I can’t get enough of this has a sample value of $8.75

Bath & Body Works in a new addition to Beauty Army and even though it’s not super expensive or “high end”, it’s definitely quality. I’ve never had a B&BW product I didn’t love. This smells divine. These retail for $3.50

This Vita-K sample jumped out at me because I got my VERY first spider vein recently and I pretty much wanted to die. Haha. No, it’s not THAT bad, but I had never heard of a lotion designed to help them so I really wanted to give it a whirl. I haven’t done that yet, but soon. This is a full size and sells for $14.99 (Um, wow!)

Overall, my Beauty Army value was $42.61- which is out of this world! More than anything, it’s a value in things that I will actually use! I’ve realized recently that while some of my boxes have a huge value, sometimes that big ticked item has NO value to me- like Brown lip color in Glossybox! I hate that! & when that happens to you over and over again you get wise and cancel. I’m happy to be back with Beauty Army after having come to my senses about that!

I look forward to many more months with Beauty Army πŸ™‚

Verge by One Styling

I’m excited to share my hair tutorial with you all & as much as I want to take credit for this awesome hair-do, I have to be honest and say it’s easy and anyone can get this look with the Verge Bubble Wand by One Styling!

Here is what I started with, freshly dried hair. My hair straightens out somewhat when I straightens some when I blow dry it, but it’s a flat, hot mess.

The first thing I do is section my hair out first by splitting it in the back, then by layers. I found that because of the way this curler works, you really want to have “square” pieces/sections as opposed to rectangles like I use with my standard curler or tapered curling wand. You want to be sure each piece has hairs that are all the same length.

After I’ve sectioned my locks, I spray my hair with Kenra’s Hot Spray. This stuff works wonders for curling, straightening or any other type of heat that you want a sculpted, but soft look. This will not only hold your hair in place after styling, but it’s a protector too. You spray this “generously” so I lightly spray each section then again before I do each curl. Bonus: this doesn’t leave any residue on your heat tools.

There are several features on the Verge Bubble Wand that make it easier to use than other curling hands I’ve tried. The biggest one being this small, easy to use clip. Your hair doesn’t slip from it’s grip and it’s easy to use.

There is one single switch and the curler hears up almost instantly to 410 degrees. The curler heats up faster than any curler or flat iron that I own.

All you do is, select some hair to curl, clip the end and “roll” upward towards you roots. The small black part at the tip is warm, but not hot enough to burn you or be uncomfortable so you can rest your fingertip there to steady yourself while winding and unwinding.

Each curl is going to look different. Don’t worry! I admit at first I was really confused by this and I wondered how it would turn out and weather I’d end up with a mop- you won’t! I promise πŸ™‚ Just keep going, not matter how crazy you think it looks πŸ˜‰

Once I’ve curled my whole head, it looks nice- sure, but I’m not done quite yet!

I turn my head the the side and use my fingers (placed at my roots) to gently shake out my hair and run my fingers through it slightly. This softens the whole look and leaves my previously “crunchy and stiff” curls soft and amazing looking!

Finished hair πŸ™‚ It’s curly and messy and perfect! with the combination of my Kenra Hot Spray and this amazing bubble wand, my hair looks amazing even into the next day- I just give my hair a quick makeover with some dry shampoo and I’m good to go!

Batist Dry Shampoo- a Texan’s Best Friend

Hi, My name is Alison & I love in Texas, where we like big hair. Okay, that’s a stereotype but for me, it’s pretty true! That probably comes from my lack of natural volume, but some time in my teen years, I discovered Dry shampoo
& I’ve been addicted ever since!

It all started with Batiste. My first can was much smaller than this one, 1.6oz (their travel size) and in their “Original” scent that smelled a bit like baby powder. That wasn’t too long ago, but now they have 10 different varieties and they carry the same small size and this larger 6.73oz can- perfect for my addiction πŸ˜‰

Recently, I got to try their Tropical scent. They describe it was “coconut and exotic”, It smells a little sweet to me also. It’s hard to describe but the words “beach party” come to mind. It smells wonderful! Batiste is SO easy to use, just hold it several inches (I’m talking maybe a foot, lol) away from your hair and spray it on your roots or wherever your hair is looking lack luster or in need of a pick-me-up. Sometimes, I hold my can too close (I get excited) and I just shake my hands through my hair a little bit to help spread out the mist around.

No matter how I’ve styled my hair, Batiste leave my hair looking great and my curls intact, which I really appreciate! I can’t wait to try some of the other new scents they have, especially “Wild” that comes in leopard print bottle. WANT!

Be sure to check out Batiste online HERE to find what scent/formula is right for you!
They are also on Facebook & Twitter.

When was your first Batiste experience?

Starlooks Starbox September

If you have not gone over to & signed up for Starbox- stop what you’re doing and go! I’ve always been very impressed with my Starbox’s but this month…I’m OVER THE MOON. They’ve continued to delivered amazing, quality products but this month? We got 6 of them. Not to mention a brand new, never released item and well…I’d just rather show you πŸ™‚

Why am I having to use my finger to hold up my Starbox you ask? Oh, no reason. Just because it’s WAY too heavy to stand on it’s own πŸ˜‰

Here was everything inside! At the very bottom, you’ll notice a post card. That has a special offer on it and if you refer just one friend, next month you will get a special Starlooks makeup bag! I can’t that bag pretty bad! So if you do sign up, please let them know The Rosy Snail sent you!

The first item I pulled out was this amazing iPrimer eyeshadow base. I’ve been hearing about this for what seems like forever & I can’t wait to test this for wear time. The only other primer I’m very familiar with is Urban Decay, but right off the bat, I notice that Starlook’s formula is smoother and takes less “working in” on my eye lid. Being that I’m paranoid about wrinkles, etc, I’m loving that! Also, the finish is silky and attracts the shadow, rather than being “sticky” and “holding” the shadow. Man, I hope that makes sense πŸ˜‰ I’ll be updating you all on how it lasts/creasing or not, etc VERY soon….maybe tonight!!

Next was something all girls love…diamonds. Okay, they’re body jewels! But I admit, I have the though “Oooh shiny….” I received about 15 pieces in two different colors. They are both so wonderful for Fall. One is an Amber color and the other is a opalescent white. These came in a cute little plastic vial.

And Lastly, the thing that just tipped me over the edge- a 5 piece palette. Yes, you read that right, 5 full shadows in a monthly subscription box. Have you ever even hear of that in your whole life? These are all somewhat sheer, monographic shades. The possibilities are endless with these! They will make amazing eyeshadows of course, as well as highlighters, eye lines…and the way you apply them had endless possibilities too!

Here are some swatches, these do not do these ANY justice! They are amazing and each one shimmers 2-3 different colors and no two shades are the same. I think I will enjoy layering these are some brown smoky shadows this fall for just a hint of twinkle, but come winter, I’m going full out Ice Queen with these!!

Be sure to check out Starlooks on Facebook for special news, promotions and specials.
The value of this month’s box was well over double the cost ($15). The 5 shadow palette is $30 on it’s own. I’m yet to hear what the iPrimer will retail for, but I’m assuming around $12-$15 bases on quality and the price range for most Starlooks products. I’m VERY impressed with Starbox and I’m excited to use these products (and share pictures!!).

Did you get Starbox this month?! What was your favorite product?

Hair Tutorial?

I’m not so vein, BUT when I posted this of Facebook a few hours ago, I got quite a few comments. I’ve got reviews to post about everything I used to create this look. From my shampoo down to the amazing heat tools I used, but I was wondering if you guys would be interested in not only a review but a “how-to” with plenty of tips & tricks and of course, what I do best- product recommendations πŸ˜‰

Rockin’ Green Laundry Detergent- Giveaway
