Starlooks Starbox- December!

Standard

As promised, December’s box was huge! I finally got my 15-pan eyeshadow palette, valued at $99! Remember that Starlooks is only $15, plus $1.98 shipping- this was a total steal!

My box arrived in it’s ever changing packaging, as per usual. This month was red and gold to match the Holiday spirit for December.

Inside, we received our card that explains everything inside along with little confetti- an adorable touch.ย  I was lucky to have opened my box outside because the confetti did go everywhere, but it was fun.

I’ll go ahead and get to the good stuff ๐Ÿ™‚ Here is my palette. There are 5 colors: Red, Purple, Blue Green & Orange and there are 3 shades of each. I loved the idea of playing on the color wheel. I’ve been a fan of Starlooks’ eyeshadows and pigments since the first time I got the chance to try them and this just adds to my collection. The options are endless! Each shadow is smooth, applies wonderfully and the color payoff is superb. Of the 15 shadows, only two are matte- the bright red and the deep plum. The rest are beautiful shimmers that add pop and make the eye look more awake.

I decided I would go ahead and swatch them all because I hadn’t seen to many swatches online just yet ๐Ÿ™‚

Reds.

Purples.

Blues.

Greens.

Oranges/Yellows.

The value is insane with every Starlooks Starbox I’ve tried but December’s box took the cake. I’m so excited to see what they have in store for next year! If you haven’t signed up yet, be sure and check them out & don’t forget that a subscription box makes a GREAT gift for the beauty junkie on your list!

If you’re kicking yourself for having missed this box, you can pick it up HERE for only $10 more!

Mineral Hygienics Eyeshadows

Standard

If you’ve been a reader for a while, you know that a couple months ago I got to try a Starter Kit with Mineral Hygienics and I fell in love! Their foundations and concealer was spot on even on my oily complexion and I’m still enjoying those products now! I loved them so much that I couldn’t leave well enough and in the Holiday Spirit, they agreed to send me another present to enjoy and share with you all!

I received my eyeshadows and eyeshadow brush packed up perfectly just like before. Mineral Hygienics doesn’t skimp on the details; in their products, in their ingredients or in their presentation. I always know I’m going to get a product that looks beautiful in the bottle and on my skin ๐Ÿ™‚

I chose two colors that I knew would go with just about everything and especially a bold lip ๐Ÿ˜‰
Pesto is described as “a bright olive shadow with a touch of green sparkles throughout”. At first, I thought it wasn’t as “bright” as I expected, that was until I swatched it. The lime pop certainly comes through and the dark (almost Emerald) micro glitter in this shadow makes it a true “WOW” color for the winter. I cannot wait to pair this with with an Ugly Red Christmas Sweater. This is going to be EPIC!
Nestle (which just SOUNDS like a cozy Winter color, right?!) is described as “a soft cashmere brown with light coverage and a delicate shimmer”. This color proved to be an amazing, warm wash of color and glamor with even the lightest touch. When packed on, this adds an amazing bronzed look to my blue eyes and it makes them pop and sparkle, it’s really magical. I think this might be my favorite of the two because with this color alone, I often get compliments and people think I spent a lot of time layering and placing my shadow when really, Nestle is my one shadow wonder!

I’m never disappointed with Mineral Hygienics, but these velvet smooth, uber pigmented shadows have me wondering why I even both with other brands!

Have you ever tried Mineral Hygienics? What color do you need in your Winter Wardrobe?

Anastasia Beverly Hills

Standard

When the Holidays come around, there is one thing I REALLY go ga-ga for- Holiday Gift Sets! But the Creme De La Creme of Gift Sets for me has got to be in the Cosmetics department. There’s nothing like getting everything you love from a company all in one set! When it comes to my eyes and brows, no one does Gift Sets like Anastasia Beverly Hills! In my book, their Holiday Gift Sets are legendary!
This year I got to try two of them.

This year, Anastasia Beverly Hills released Two Kits: One for the eyes, Want You To Want Me & one for the lips: Kiss On My List. Each Kit is a steal of a deal with multiple items at one low price. Since 1997, Anastasia Beverly Hills has been bringing the professional cosmetic experience to your own home with a balance of science and beauty in their amazing, high quality cosmetics.

The first set I opened was the Want You To Want Me Set. This set is all about the eyes, the focal point of your face. They call this a kit within a clutch because it all comes perfectly presented in a velvet magnetic box with rose gold tone chain detailing. The presentation of this kit is beautiful and ideal for gifting. I personally wouldn’t even wrap this! It’s already a treat to open. This clutch is also easy to take with you and features a large mirror. But the REAL treats are the products inside!

As you would expect with an eye kit, there is an eyeshadow. The difference? This is duel sides and even features a crease brush on one end. I love the idea of being able to pack on color and blend when needed. I have to say this is certainly not my favorite brush in the whole entire world, but it gets the job done and it’s VERY handy to have in my kit or on the go.

ย

Next, I checked out the two “tube” items. First was Anastasia Beverly Hills’ signature Brow Gel. This gel has become my everyday go-to product when it comes to keeping my unruly brows in check. I fill my brows with their a powder or a pencil, then I give them a quick once over and I’m set all day. I don’t even have to think twice about my brows. Before I used this get, I would sometimes have to double check or touch up my brows half way through the day- not my idea of fun! Or other gels I used didn’t hold up the way this one does and I ended up plucking or smoothing out stray hairs. Again, no thanks!

Also included in the hit- a liquid eyeliner. Liquid eyeliner can be all you need to turn a day-time eye look into a sultry night on the town look. This liner is easy to apply and dries into a dark, matte line that is smooth and lasts all day. (or night) I love throwing this mini into my purse to keep on hand in order to just have a quick mid-day make over. It lasts even through working out and all the other sweat inducing Mommy tasks I tackle everyday.

While I loved all the products in this kit, the true star has to be this mini palette. Hands down! It features 9 colors that are on the neutral side all perfect to mix and match with endless combination possibilities. 2 of the 9 shades are matter and the other 7 have a subtle, silky shimmery finish. Each shadow applies like satin, lasts all day and never creases.

Swatched (without primer) these shades are super pigmented in just one pass. I love all the possibilities this compact palette offers and of all my palettes, it’s certainly the most portable I own. Plus, with it’s velvet cover, it’s already help up to a few falls. (Let’s face it, those are bound to happen). The palette itself also has a mirror inside.

I really loved this kit for it’s endless possibilities are easy on-the-go feel. It’s idea for both daytime, business, casual, nighttime or even formal looks and for the price- only $34, it’s an affordable multitasking kit. I certainly caught the bug I’ve heard you get with your first Anastasia Beverly Hills product and I couldn’t wait to try out another kit!

My Next kit is all about kissable, hydrated lips! This set of 6 is titles Kiss On My List ( a cute play on words) and retails for only $30! That is $5 a lip gloss, which is a steal for most brands but especially one as high end as Anastasia Beverly Hills. Just one of these glosses retail for $18! So for less than the price of two, you get 6 of their lipglosses. I’m considering buying another set! The shades are Jolene, Lola, Maggie May, Roxanne, Sharona and Moi. All beautiful ladies ๐Ÿ˜‰

Each color is more beautiful than the last and I have a hard time deciding each day. These colors moisturize instantly with over 90% of women asked said that after 10 minutes they felt that their lips were moisturized. These glosses are the perfect balance of smooth and long lasting and leave my lips feeling great. They also leave behind a slight stain of their color which is great for when your lipgloss wears off through drinking or eating, you’re still left with a nice flush of color. I can’t believe no one else has done this with their glosses yet! I thought that was a brilliant idea.

If you’ve got a cosmetic junkie on your Holiday Shopping list, be sure and check out Anastasia Beverly Hills for quality and a great deal on these sets. They’re perfect for beginners, collectors and even beauty experts!

Emani Trio Eye Colors- Review & GIVEAWAY

Standard

Nothing makes a better shocking stuffer than cosmetics. Okay, maybe that’s just me! But I’ll help you lovely ladies stock your own stocking with this awesome giveaway ๐Ÿ˜‰

Emani is a cosmetics line establishes in 1998 that is cruelty free, Vegan friendly and PETA certified. Their products are not only friendly to animals, but they are meant to improve your complexion and allow your skin to breathe.ย  Emani set out to bring a new twist on natural cosmetics and take the boring out of mineral cosmetics. I got the opportunity to try out two of their Trio Eye Colors and I have to say, they’re doing it right!

The first thing I noticed about Emani Minerals is their packaging. It’s beautiful and sturdy. I have plenty of eyeshadows that I would never carry around with me on-the-go or fear they would get broken- this is not one of those! I can even attest that they can withstand a 3 foot drop onto a bathroom flood…twice. There’s a reason my mother didn’t name me Grace…

These trios come in 5 combination. I chose Tantalizing and Aqua God. Each trio features 3 colors with a total of .14oz (4 grams) of eyeshadow- these are BIG trios! & each collection makes a great shadow look with a lid color, crease color and highlight, but the combinations are endless! You can even wet a liner brush and line your top lashes for some extra POP! I even had fun mixing and matching my trios for even more options.
Emani Mineral shadows work best with primer (as I’ve found with most mineral shadows), but with a little bit o a primer base, these shadows lasted all day and were true to color! I couldn’t decide which trio to use to show you guys a look, so do me a favor & leave a comment letting me know which Trio is your favorite!

Now for the Giveaway! One lucky Rosy Snail reader will win her choice of TWO Emani Trio Eye Colors!

FragranceNet.com

Standard

It’s rare that I have the money to invest in a new perfume. For a “smell”, perfume can be very pricy but when you find one that you love, it’s hard to say no! Earlier this year I got the chance to smell Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb and I just couldn’t get it out of my head. It turned the heat up on my old “girlie” perfume and I thought, this is way more “me”. The problem? A 3.4oz bottle of this amazing perfume retails for $150. There was just no way I could justify this purchase! Then I discovered FragranceNet.com

At FragranceNet, they offer discounts on popular, name brand perfumes and box sets. Aside from the new love in my life, Viktor & Rolf, they also carry other well known brands like Ralph Lauren, Christian Dior, D&G and many, many more. All at a great discounted price! It’s very hard to find Flowerbomb discounted anywhere, which is why I had just about given up the dream of owning this perfume. I received the 1.7oz bottle that typically retails for $100. At FragrnaceNet, their prices are already discounted automatically- this bottle is $80, (an automatic 15% off of their listed price) but you can add further discounts all the time. Right now, for instance if you sign up for their email, you get an additional 20% off!

My perfume came in perfect condition, even the box the perfume was packed in was in flawless condition which is great because I know SO many people love to keep their boxes. Especially when it’s as interesting as the one mine came in ๐Ÿ™‚ My order arrived fast too! I had my perfume in about 3 business days, so it’s perfect for getting those Holiday Gift orders in!

I adore my new perfume! It’s certainly a burst of “flower” like you’d expect from the name but it’s way more than that. It’s also sweet with a bit of musk. It’s a grown up version of my previous perfume in my opinion. I think this perfume screams “romance” and it’s dare I say it, a little sexy too ๐Ÿ˜‰ The best part is knowing when I want to get another, I won’t have to pay full price! If I decided to spring for the larger bottle, I could save over 33% if I shop with FragranceNet! Sounds like I no brainer to me!

What is your go-to perfume & where do you shop for it?

Besame Cosmetics Classic Lipstick

Standard

I’m a big fan of classic Red Lips. It’s timeless and eye catching. I admit, it’s not someone everyone can pull off, but I guess I’m lucky like that ๐Ÿ˜‰ A bold red lip has been a cosmetic staple since Queen Elizabeth’s days and it history is any indicator, it’s not going anywhere. There are so many companies that make a great red lipstick, I personally have a collection of a dozen or more, but the true beauty of a red lip comes in the “vintage” or “retro” appeal, that’s why my current addiction is Besame Cosmetics Classic Lipstick in Besame Red.

Even the packaging of this tube of lipstick is timeless. Besame Cosmetics makes a full line of beauty essentials that look like they were plucked straight out of the 1940’s. From the bullet shaped case right down to the semi-matte finish, this lipstick is spot on. This has to be, hands down, the most pigmented red I have ever tried. It also does not bleed and provides and amazing feel on my lips. That is thanks to vitamins A, E and C, aloe and green tea. Makeup standards have come a long way in the past 70 years. That being said, this “replica” lipstick is all natural.

In just two gentle passes, the coverage on this amazing blue-based red has some amazing wow- factor.
The finish, the feel and the coverage all combine to make this a winning red and a very flattering look. The unique shape of this lipstick and it’s “corners” make it easy to create sharp lines without the need of a lip liner.

Overall, I adore this lipstick! I cannot wait to try more from Besame? What is your favorite classic cosmetic look?

June Jacobs Spa Collection

Standard

There is nothing more relaxing for me than getting to sit and do a mask. Sometimes, I even wear them while folding laundry- it sounds strange, but even THAT makes laundry more enjoyable. Something about knowing that your skin is going to look or feel awesome after you take it off and it required no work at all makes me happy. I can’t be the only one. So, when I got the opportunity to review some products from the June Jacobs Spa Collection, I couldn’t pass on it!

The June Jacobs Spa Collection is a perfect blend of modern science and all natural, good for your skin ingredients. June Jacobs had been in the skin care andย  industries for over 30 years (though you’d NEVER know that by looking at her glowing skin!). She focuses her successful brand on providing quality ingredients to bring you the spa at home. Her line includes everything from scrubs and creams to lip and hair products. There’s even several men’s items as well. I let the rep. I spoke with through email know what my skin care concerns were and what some of my favorite products to try and I received two products from the June Jacobs Spa Collection.

The first product I tried is the Cranberry Pomegranate Moisture Mask. I’m normally a bit oily, but with the weather change, I’m getting some dry skin like a lot of you ladies out there. Like all the products in June Jacobs’ line, this mask is paraben and preservative free. It also contains cranberry extract and many other vitamins to help your skin retain it’s natural, healthy moisture level.

Applying this mask is like a dream. It’s smooth, slightly cool at first and left my skin feeling soft, moisturized and supply. It helped to restore some of the “bounce” I lost in my skin as the weather outside got cooler. I will certainly be using this again, especially following things that tend to dry out my skin like microdermabrasion and face peels.

On the top of my “skin care concerns” list in my under eye area. It’s not terrible, but it’s the thing thatย  I stress about the most. (which in turn makes it worse- of course!) So, I was thrilled to get to try out this Revitalizing Eye Gel. This eye gel is meant to sooth and cool to not only reduce under eye circles but also treat the puffiness that also comes along with those circles.

The thing that makes this eye gel different is it’s metal application tip. Now, I’ve seen these on other eye gels and creams, but those were in face metal coated plastic (whatever in the world that is). This tip is 100% metal and when you pop this tube of eye gel into the fridge for a few minutes, the affects are instant and very noticeable. This product also contains caffeine and mica which make this my morning wake up product. When your eyes are alive, the rest of your face seems to follow.

It’s hard to say which is my favorite from the June Jacobs Spa Collection because each of these products were amazing and went beyond my expectations in helping with my skin care needs. I’m hoping to try other products from June Jacobs’ line.

Gleam by Melanie Mills

Standard

Have you heard of Melanie Mills? I have to say before I heard of her line, the name sounded SO familiar, but I couldn’t place it! Then it hit me, Melanie Mills is a famous makeup artist to the stars. She’s not just any makeup artist, she’s an Emmy Award winning artist who has over 14 years experience in the field. She’s best known for her work on Dancing with the Stars- the birth place of her Gleam line.

On top of all that, she’s a women after my own heart: โ€œGlitter is fun and makes you feel young and sexy. And, by the way, you are never โ€˜too oldโ€™ for glitter.โ€ – Melanie Mills.

I received a beautiful bag of Gleam products from their two lines, Gleam Body Radiance, and the newest line-Lip Radiance.

The first product I tried was Gleam Body Radiance.Body Radiance is an all over body makeup that applies like a lotion/bronzer but does so much more for your skin. With ingredients like Vitamin E & jojoba oils, Body Radiance nourishes your skin while providing an amazing radiance and glow wherever it is applied. Body Radiance comes in 4 shades: Light Gold, Rose Gold, Bronze Gold & Deep Gold.

I chose Rose Gold, which was the original color and is Melanie Mills’ signature Body Radiance color. Body Radiance was originally created for the show Dancing with the Stars when fake spray tan lines were being exaggerated by the camera angles. Melanie needing to come up with something that would cover up flaws and scars and provide an even skin tone, but that would also show up evenly on camera.

My picture does not do Gleam Body Radiance any justice! You can see the area on the top of my arm and my wrist where I have a nice glow and more even skin tone. I really love this for low cut tops, my legs and my arms. You can even use body radiance to highlight areas on and around your face like your jaw line, cheek bones and even as an eyeshadow.

I also got to try Gleam Lip Radiance in two colors, Naked & Uncontrollable.ย  Lip Radiance applies smooth and lasts all day. Each shade is super pigmented and does not even require a lip liner to keep this long wear lip color in place. It feels amazing on and comes in 7 shades.

I found both colors I received to be true to the website, which is great when you are trying to match a color to your skin tone or a dress. The less guess work when making and online purchase, the better.
With Lip Radiance, my lips felt better after I wore this lip gloss than they did before.

Overall, I really loved the Gleam line! I would buy these products again in a heart beat. I can’t wait to try more colors from both the Lip Radiance and Body Radiance collection.

What is your favorite color from the Lip Radiance line?

Sample Society November

Standard

I was really happy to have my Sample Society show up earlier in the month rather than later! There was a rumor mill churning over delay because of the Hurricane, but they pulled through! I’m a tiny bit sad to report that this is the second month in a row without a full sized cosmetic item, BUT I’ll live ๐Ÿ™‚

This month’s box was put together by Allure. I have to say that I’m happy with this month and there was one product I’ve been DYING to get my paws on- I didn’t notice anything all that special about this being an “Allure” box. That’s not to say I don’t adore Allure, but they are suppose to be “the beauty expert”. I have to say I tend to head to Beauty Bar.com for my beauty expert support, but oh well ๐Ÿ˜‰

So, going in order of the card, the first thing I pulled out was this Shea Butter hand cream from L’Occitane. I have to admit I was hoping for a bigger sample based on what I got in my CEW box earlier in the year but like most hand creams you only need a little so this is plenty from a hand cream sample. I’m torn between this brand and my Deep Steep as a favorite. This .3oz sample is worth $1.62

Next was a product I have actually already tried in a previous sample box. It’s by Alterna and it’s their Kendi Oil Dry Oil Mist. As you can see from the lid this product ( and one other) leaked quite a bit. There were some pretty oily products this month and none of them stayed in their containers all that well. I didn’t loose a TON of products, but I did have to clean them all up. I like this product well enough, but I’m not a dry hair kinda girl, so I will be passing this one on ๐Ÿ™‚ This is one of the largest sample in the box at 1oz- which is huge for a hair product sample. This sample is worth $5.71

We got one cosmetic item this month and I was thrilled to see it was a lipstick.

Not so thrilling is the teeny, tiny size. Anyone ever get those mini lipsticks from Avon? Yeah, it’s that size. We got Diego dalla palma Classic Lipstick in Pink Satin. This lipstick is great, love the color and I’ll be able to apply it several times. I’m not sure what the sample value on this one is, so I’ll guess about $4. The full size of this retails for $34

As always with Sample Society, we received a perfume sample. This is the new perfume, Volutes from Dypteque. I have to say I am a fan of this sweet, lingering scent. This sample is worth $2.18 I DO wish we were getting the bigger perfume samples (like the mini bottles we got for a few months). I prefer those to these, BUT I am glad that this is a spray top.

Last was the product I’ve been really waiting to try! This is Precleanse from Dermalogica. This is an oil to use before washing your face. I’m VERY interested to try this one! Plus, it’s a bit of a two-for because they also sent a sample packet of their Special Cleansing Gel. This has a sample value of $6.86

Overall, I’m pretty “okay” with my box this month. I wish the lipstick and perfume were bigger, but I liked them quite a bit so that probably added to that feeling ๐Ÿ˜‰ My sample value was only $20.37. I started paying tax on my box this month recently so I pay $16 and some change so this was really NOT a huge gain on my end this month. I’d say out of all my boxes this month, I was most disappointed with this one and I’m not sure I’ll stay subscribed considering it’s HUGE value drop in value this month. It’s my most expensive box and so far, the lowest value :/ I’ll have to sleep on this one!

Pampered to Puuurfection with Honeycat Cosmetics

Standard

It doesn’t take very much time knowing me (or reading my blog) to know I am one sassy women. So, when I heard about Honeycat Cosmetics, I was instantly drawn to their sassy, lush and luxurious bath and body products. They sent me a few items to try and before I even got the chance to try them all, I know I’d be ordering more soon!

Honeycat Cosmetics is centered around the idea that cats are a feminine symbol of sensuality. Honeycat Cosmetics creator, Theresa Spruill, aims to make bathtime not only luxurious and all your own, but a full event. The entire line is all natural and cruelty free. With everything from bath bomb and body wash to lip balm and body lotion, Honeycat Cosmetics has you covered with everything to help turn your bathroom into a spa.

The first thing I tried was this Lip Balm. They call this Whisker Slicks, sticking to the true feline theme running throughout all Honeycat products. This never greasy formula smells (and even tastes) like cinnamon and ginger. It glides on smooth and leaves my lips moisturized for hours. I have a tendency to feel the need to constantly reapply lip balms and sometimes feel like I need them more when I’ve used them only once, but this lip balm did not leave my lips feeling dry so no need.

Next, I tried the Chick of The Sea Foaming Bath Crystals. These are raspberry, chocolate or mint scented. I poured the whole container into a warm, running bath and was instantly soaking in an amazing fizzy, scented bath. My only “dislike” of this product is that you are forced to use the whole container in one “setting”. Because the package is not resealable. BUT one thoughtfully packaged container proved to be just the right amount for my standard sized bath tub.

Aside from bath salts, you could also try a bath time fizzy. With this one, I was able to break it into several pieces for multiple baths. Just like the bath salts, this fizzy had a wonderful aroma and added a smooth, silky scent to my otherwise dull bath time ritual. I think of the two, this Fizzy was my favorite ๐Ÿ™‚

Last, but not least, I got to try this On the Prowl Shower Gel. As a busy mom, I usually only get to take showers, but with this Mango scented gel, even boring showers become a luxurious experience. This shower gel leaved my skin feeling and smelling great. Also, the container is super cute! It reminds me of a champagne bottle.

All of the Honeycat Cosmetic products I was able to try were great and I felt pampered from head to toes
or from my whiskers to my tail ๐Ÿ˜‰

What Honeycat Cosmetic product would you love to get your paws on?
