Mineral Hygienics Eyeshadows

Standard

If you’ve been a reader for a while, you know that a couple months ago I got to try a Starter Kit with Mineral Hygienics and I fell in love! Their foundations and concealer was spot on even on my oily complexion and I’m still enjoying those products now! I loved them so much that I couldn’t leave well enough and in the Holiday Spirit, they agreed to send me another present to enjoy and share with you all!

I received my eyeshadows and eyeshadow brush packed up perfectly just like before. Mineral Hygienics doesn’t skimp on the details; in their products, in their ingredients or in their presentation. I always know I’m going to get a product that looks beautiful in the bottle and on my skin πŸ™‚

I chose two colors that I knew would go with just about everything and especially a bold lip πŸ˜‰
Pesto is described as “a bright olive shadow with a touch of green sparkles throughout”. At first, I thought it wasn’t as “bright” as I expected, that was until I swatched it. The lime pop certainly comes through and the dark (almost Emerald) micro glitter in this shadow makes it a true “WOW” color for the winter. I cannot wait to pair this with with an Ugly Red Christmas Sweater. This is going to be EPIC!
Nestle (which just SOUNDS like a cozy Winter color, right?!) is described as “a soft cashmere brown with light coverage and a delicate shimmer”. This color proved to be an amazing, warm wash of color and glamor with even the lightest touch. When packed on, this adds an amazing bronzed look to my blue eyes and it makes them pop and sparkle, it’s really magical. I think this might be my favorite of the two because with this color alone, I often get compliments and people think I spent a lot of time layering and placing my shadow when really, Nestle is my one shadow wonder!

I’m never disappointed with Mineral Hygienics, but these velvet smooth, uber pigmented shadows have me wondering why I even both with other brands!

Have you ever tried Mineral Hygienics? What color do you need in your Winter Wardrobe?

Emani Trio Eye Colors- Review & GIVEAWAY

Standard

Nothing makes a better shocking stuffer than cosmetics. Okay, maybe that’s just me! But I’ll help you lovely ladies stock your own stocking with this awesome giveaway πŸ˜‰

Emani is a cosmetics line establishes in 1998 that is cruelty free, Vegan friendly and PETA certified. Their products are not only friendly to animals, but they are meant to improve your complexion and allow your skin to breathe.Β  Emani set out to bring a new twist on natural cosmetics and take the boring out of mineral cosmetics. I got the opportunity to try out two of their Trio Eye Colors and I have to say, they’re doing it right!

The first thing I noticed about Emani Minerals is their packaging. It’s beautiful and sturdy. I have plenty of eyeshadows that I would never carry around with me on-the-go or fear they would get broken- this is not one of those! I can even attest that they can withstand a 3 foot drop onto a bathroom flood…twice. There’s a reason my mother didn’t name me Grace…

These trios come in 5 combination. I chose Tantalizing and Aqua God. Each trio features 3 colors with a total of .14oz (4 grams) of eyeshadow- these are BIG trios! & each collection makes a great shadow look with a lid color, crease color and highlight, but the combinations are endless! You can even wet a liner brush and line your top lashes for some extra POP! I even had fun mixing and matching my trios for even more options.
Emani Mineral shadows work best with primer (as I’ve found with most mineral shadows), but with a little bit o a primer base, these shadows lasted all day and were true to color! I couldn’t decide which trio to use to show you guys a look, so do me a favor & leave a comment letting me know which Trio is your favorite!

Now for the Giveaway! One lucky Rosy Snail reader will win her choice of TWO Emani Trio Eye Colors!

Opalima “Unboxing”

Standard

I don’t usually just do blog posts of “look what I just got in the mail?!” I reserve my personal Facebook for those. Haha, BUT Opalima sent me the most amazing box of goodies to play with and I WILL be doing looks with them very soon so I wanted to share some exciting new eyeshadows I got along with some new products I’ve never tried before πŸ™‚

First of all, everything was neatly wrapped in tissue paper with a white ribbon on it. It was hard for me to not just rip this thing open to get to the good part! But I told myself, I should show you all the presentation so I calmly photographed it πŸ˜‰

Here’s all the pretties! This is the bottom/label of most of these πŸ™‚ I got 2 blushes, 8 eyeshadows (ahhh!!) an Oil Control Primer and one of Opalima’s new Lip Cremes!

Opalima Mineral Eyeshadows come in twist-on lidded jars with three hole sifters inside. They all come sealed with a paper inside the lid.

The paper tells you the product information like the ingredients πŸ™‚

On the bottom, is the color number and which collection the color comes from.

My first three shadows are from three different Collections. One top, I have #2 from the Night & Day Collection and on bottom I have #2 from the In The Pink Collection & #5 from the Violet Eyes Collection.

Next was one of Opalima’s brand new Lip Cremes. This is in the color #3, red Raspberry. I adore this color! I can’t wait to get some curls going and go all out with this beautiful red lip. There is a slight orange undertone to this color that really makes it pop- on any skin tone. They currently have 13 colors including a clear lip conditioner.

Next was two shadows from the Green with Envy Collection, #15 & #17. I especially love #15 (bottom) with the blue undertones. I’m often scared of blues, but this one is just green enough to rock as a smoky eye.

I also got three colors from my favorite Opalima Collection- House of Browns. I feel like there was some mind reading going on here because these three colors are my all time GO TO shadow shades. This is #11, #8 (I wear shades just like this for a perfect day time smoky look almost every day!) and #10- the perfect gold for any blue eyed girl.

I also got two of their blushes from their cleverly named Made You Blush Collection. On top is #6 and on bottom- #3.

Last was the Bamboo Silk/Clay Oil Control Primer. They call this a primer, but you can use it anytime to remove excess oil. I am forever talking about my oily skin so I CANNOT wait to try this product out! Because it’s going to dry you out, they don’t recommend this for dry skin or sensitive skin- neither of which I have!

I also got a sample of the Oil Control Primer #2. This one is ideal for my in the winter months when I will likely be a bit drier in some areas of my face πŸ™‚ There are 3 different powders like this that Opalima has is their “Face Section” of their website πŸ™‚

I’m SO excited to do some tutorials and more for you guys so let me know if there is anything specific you would like to see. Below are some swatches of the items I plan to use this evening πŸ˜‰

Left to right: Lip Creme #3, House of Browns # 10, Made you Blush #6!! LOVE LOVE!!

Glossybox (super late) July

Standard

Well…it takes a lot for me to dislike a company as much as I dislike Glossybox right now. So, even if you don’t want to read it, I’m going to tell you all why. It all started the first week of July when I saw everyone on Facebook complaining that Glossybox had already billed them. I waited a few days before emailing Glossybox to ask why I hadn’t been billed. After 6 days- they let me know that my credit card on file was declined. I knew that my previous credit card had been cancelled and we had I updated my credit card information right away and was told I would be billed on the 23rd and that my box would ship the following Friday (the 27th). I was billed on the 25th and my box was shipped on August 8th…to add insult to injury, my shipping email stated that my “July Replacement box was on it’s way”…replacement? Really? That would mean that an original box was ever shipped in the first place- which never happened. During this whole process, I was not once apologized to nor offered any sort of compensation for the errors on Glossyboxes end- that is until I sent a stern email letting them know that I would like more done for me. I was then apologized to…I sent a second email letting them know that frankly, that wasn’t good enough. I got a reply after a few days:

“I am so sorry that you have been having such a bad experience with your July GLOSSYBOX. We will be sending you a few goodies in the mail as soon as we can. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.” So, if this happens, I would honestly be happy with that solution. I think, personally, that this box should have been free. Nonetheless, I am giving them the chance to send the box and 3 days ago I was billed for August…we shall see. Like I said, it takes a lot…

So, on to a review- as unbiased as possible. I got the same beautiful pale pink box, nicely wrapped in black tissue paper, a crown “seal” (sticker) and a bow. Because Glossybox doesn’t have their name on these boxes they make wonderful gift wrap. I’ve saved all my boxes and plan to use them for gifts for the lovely ladies in my life this Christmas.

July’s theme was Summer Nights.

On the reverse is a list of the items included. There were five products (two of which are full size) and a bonus item as well.

Going down the list, first is Alessandro Internationsal Pedix Feet Heel Rescue Balm. It has a peppermint scent, like a lot of foot products do. I’m in need of a pedicure and am actually having a mani/pediΒ  party this weekend with some girlfriends so, I’ll be trying this then. I am a little confused about the availability of this product because you cannot purchase this in the US- when you go to their site and choose North America, it only shows placed for Canada. So, I’m hoping I don’t love this. A full size at 100ml is $18.50, making this 30ml sample worth around $5.55

Next was a shampoo sample from Sebastian. I’ve heard great things about Sebastian so I was excited to see this on my card. It smells SO good. The full size of this is $14.95 making this 1.7oz sample worth $3.26

And, like a breath of fresh air, they included the conditioner too. I know I’m not the only one that gets frustrated when you only get one or the other. This condition is different because it is in a metal can and it comes out like a foam. Because I’m the last to get this box, I heard from others (namely Erica from Erica’s Primp & Polish) that this does not hold to your hair so doesn’t get the chance to condition it. Bummer. This sample is worthΒ  $4.21

Next was our first full size product. This is a new product from Figs & Rouge and it’s their Sweet Geranium lip, face & body balm. I heard wonderful things about this products but I am not sure if it’s for me. It smells nice but it is so floral that my first thought was I might not want it on my lips. Once I dipped into it I realized it was SO oily. Like vaseline but even thinner. I tried it on my lips but I’m not seeing any amazing results right away. I’ll try it a little more before I have a final verdict. I love that they went with an organic, natural product. This is full size and retails for $6

Next was the other full size product and it is an eyeshadow trio from Senna Cosmetics. I was happy to see this and in a very flattering color assortment. This trio is called Satin Doll, on their site it is described as “matte light pink and rose with metallic warm plum” This retails for $24 and essentially pays for the cost of the box.

Our bonus this month was one I had to giggle at a little bit, not because it’s not a product to be taken seriously, but because of circumstance. This is a toweled packed with a warm vanilla like scent. It’s vanilla, but there is so much more to it, so I hit the web for a more accurate description “Featuring notes of bright red currant and rich vanilla, wrapped around subtle sweet lemon, slightly spicy ginger, and kissed with a hint of sugar“- yep, sounds right πŸ™‚ This is a night smell and I think of all the items, it reminds me of Summer Nights the most. I look forward to wearing this to an evening BBQ or get together with friends. This has a sample value of $.92

Over all, the value of this box is $43.92- pretty consistent with previous months. My problem is that I often get this value out of my less expensive boxes, like MyGlam OR I get even more of a value out of my boxes that are just a few dollars cheaper, like Sample Society. So far, Glossybox is the most expensive for no good reason. They don’t have exclusives, or later samples, etc. The one thing that can be said this month was they included a full sized eye shadow trio and I’ve never seen that done, but not everyone received it.

I’ll be updating you all on Glossybox and whether they stick to their word about making it up to me for the terrible customer service. How has Glossybox been for you?

MyGlam August

Standard

So, I got my MyGlam bag a few days ago. I had some oppsies & spills in my bag & I was going to wait on this until I got my replacement, but I cleaned things up pretty okay and decided to at least blog on what was inside! I’ve got a pounding headache this evening, so I’ll be including details and values in the morning! Have a great night Fellow Glammies~

First thing I wanted to mention was the bag (love it!) but based on the sneak “shipping” picture, I thought it would be like last months rainbow bag but it was actually a rubberized bag. It’s super cool, water/spill proof and I’ll love having it in my summer bag full of sunscreens and lip balms πŸ™‚

My first sample was from eclos. Just like I mentioned in my Beauty Army bag, I’m not “in love” with all the sub. brands Freeman makes- and eclos is one of them. BUT I love where MyGlam is going with this natural, earth friendly skin care. This .5oz sample of Anti-aging Cellular Activator Face Serum is worth $7.35

And no matter the brand, I want to say AMEN to MyGlam for including something else from the same line! Many skin care items are meant to be used hand in hand with the rest of the line, so thing should help anyone with this bag to actually see results πŸ™‚ This .25oz sample of eclos’ Regenerative Cream is worth $3.12

Next was a perfume, what they did good here because we got a roll on oil! This is by Demeter in the scent Clean Skin. This is a very nice, light everyday scent. This .29oz roller ball sells for$10 on their website.

Next was a glammie exclusive by Salty Cosmetics. This is a 1gram jar of Glama-ZOID. This is a nice color, but I admit it’s a little hard to figure out how to use it. It is a white/light grey/lavender but it “glows” and shimmers pink. Right now, this 1.25gram size is on sale for $4.50 but normally this size sells for $8.97

My 5th item was another Circus by Andrea’s Choice nail polish! I don’t care what anyone says. I was STOKED about this. I got the yellow last time and would have been happy with either the pink or orange this time. Unfortunately, mine was open so it leaked and got SUPER thick so, I did contact MyGlam and will be getting a replacement (thank goodness!!)

Our last SECRET item was a MyGlam lip gloss! It’s in color 01 so I’m excited to see if there will be more in the future. The color is very nice and it’s sheer enough to fit every skin tone. I love the way it feels. It smells a little sweet so that isn’t for everyone. I personally- love this gloss.

Because Andrea’s nail line is not yet available for purchase, I can’t say what it’s worth and with the lip gloss, I can’t put a price on it either, but even without those, this bag has a value of $29.44 (I couldn’t our eyeshadow at it’s non-sale price) so I can say this bag is AWESOME. And I am still loving MyGlam πŸ™‚ I’ll report back on my replacement for the eyeshadow and nail polish soon πŸ™‚

Starbox by Starlooks!

Standard

So, I wanted to introduce you all to a fairly new monthly subscription called Starbox.
Now, this is different than all of the monthly subscription boxes I have tried & for all the right reasons.

You’re going to love this πŸ˜‰
Not only will get get full size items, but it’s makeup…just makeup.
3-4 full sized products a month for $15, plus a small shipping fee.
All items included are products made by Starlooks.

Here is last months box, as explained by the lovely SuperFreaky1RU.

As you can see in the video, this box (and the box before- the first one ever) focused on the lips.
After talking to the super sweet Marci Star, I did get the inside scoop that the next box will include eye products! Aside from this monthly subscription, Starlooks is certainly something to look into- they have over 1500 individual products!

I can’t wait until my box arrives so I can show you all what is included- it’s a total mystery,
but with so many amazing looking products on their website, I know it will be good.

What Starlooks products would you love to see in future Starboxes?
